Now my husband wants me to consider the new Honda Fury...? Anyone out there with real experience riding any of these bikes?
I've ridden Thunder Mountains; they sold them at the HD shop I worked at. They're upgraded stock HDs; sort of a Stage 2 with custom paint and chrome. Not a performance bike except when compared to stock. A Fatboy, unless it has $30k in mods, (this is an exaggeration to make a point, don't take it literally. Your actual cost will be less, see your dealer for up to date pricing) is not going to break 100hp; not much there either.

If you want a performance Harley, your best bet is the new XR 1200. 90 HP stock, probably good for 100 HP with a Stage 1 kit. It will leave the VTX in the dirt in any corners, and probably beat it in a straight line too. And, it's drop-dead gorgeous. $10,799 in black or silver, add about a grand for orange/black (get the orange).

Gents,

It appears to me that Flashbabe has already decided on a bike, and wants validation from the forum.

It's gotta be a Harley, it's gotta be a BigTwin and it has to be 'fast'.

So, either she doesn't know what she 'really' wants, and has latched onto the above bike, or her husband knows exactly what HE wants.

Impossible task. No big twin can be or ever will be "fast". The most powerful ones are easy meat for mid-displacement sport twins.

Hence my quotes around the word.

Perhaps the second (or subsequent ) cup o' Joe has not recalibrated your old peepers yet?

I meant it in the mode of reinforcing your comment.

So you think it takes 30K in mods for a fatboy to break 100 HP? I'll bet you anything I can do it myself for under 2 grand total cost.

Besides the point, is a 100hp fatboy going to go as fast or handle as well as an XR1200? I cant imagine it would. I mean i guess you could lighten the bike some and put rear sets on it :-p

No it will not go as fast as an XR1200, nor will it handle as well. You will never get a Fatboy to be anything other than what it is.......a cruiser. You CAN make it faster, but really good handling is out of the question.
