I am a woman rider, havent ridden since i was a teenager, now i'm 38. I've been the 2up on my bf bike for a few yrs now and I want my own!!! We've looked at the Honda Shadow Spirit 750 & the Yamaha Silverado Classic 650. Hmmm, being that i am only 4'9"...i will have to have it lowered 1 1/2 to 2"...not too hard...any suggestions?? Comments?? Help!

Hi Michelle,
Perhaps you could check out used bikes, or new ones at dealers and find out which ones can be lowered enough. I have a friend who had her Sportster lowered to accommodate her height. Happily, with my sidecar it doesn't matter to me--I can't tip over! Good luck, and don't let it keep you from riding!

i talked to the salesman/parts guy...the Vstar 650 can be lowered up to 2 inches
And i just bought my boots...so that should be sufficient. Now to schedule my training class!!!

Wow! I sat on a Honda Shadow 650 and fell in love! Had to pry me off the seat! But, I ride with HOG as my husband has a Dyna Super Glide, so when the Sportster came up for sale already lowered I "had" to buy it. Especially as the person selling it was also part of HOG.
The Sporty is everything everyone said it was, mostly top heavy and awkward for me at slow speeds. I'm still in the practice phase, but think that if I had bought that Suzuki Intruder at the same price, same year, I would already be on the road riding away. So, buy what feels good and a good pair of boots are a must! |
