Hello, Folks,
I thought I'd drop in and see what the site was about. I'm active on several other sites relative to my bikes: BSA singles, Triumph twins and XS650 Yamahas, but I thought it would be fun to talk with some other women for a change. Let's see---I've been riding since the mid 1960's---yes, I know: I've been here since the crust of the Earth was cooling. I currently have nine bikes, a couple of which actually run! My main ride is a 1977 Yamaha XS650 with a Spirit of America sidecar. I've owned the bike since February 1978 and we've grown middle-aged together. Most importantly, my eight year-old granddaughters love riding in Gramma's sidecar, and will be camping with the group with whom I ride, called W.O.M.E.N. (Women On Motorcycles Enjoying Nature). I also love working on the bikes, and have a nice shed stuffed with bikes and tools. Anyway, it's nice to be here, and the posts I read sound fun and rational---not always the case, as we all know. So that's me!Barb |

Hello Barb, Welcome to MO!
sachiwilson isn't around at the moment to say "howdy" (she's the Women Riders Moderator), so I'll do it for her.

Welcome to the board. Sarcasm flies freely, so take posts with a grain of salt... or take 'em with a shot of whiskey.

Welcome to the site, Barbara!
We try to maintain an 'Equal Abuse' policy here. Color, creed, sex, it doesn't matter. The only 'rule' is that if you dish it out, you are expected to take it. So, look around! You'll find some interesting stuff!

Hi Guys,
Well! Thanks for the welcome! We have the usual warnings, all duly noted, and a mention in passing of whiskey. This is a good thing, as I've discovered in the use of a neat little item named "Michael Collins"---that being, of course, a founder of the Irish State, but more importantly, the best Irish whiskey ever made! I sit for some friend's children, and was given a bottle of "The big Fella", as he was called, for a present, and oh, my! Being of Irish extraction, of course I never imbibe.....much. And I got to see a nice picture of a Knucklehead, too! My second favorite HD, right behind the post-war 80" Flattie my Poppa bought me in high school, not stopping to think about the difference in our weight.....I dropped it and sold it, getting a series of BSA twins and singles, and Nortons. Much lighter--and faster. So I guess my only question at the moment is an easy one: are there actually women on this thread? I hope? Talking with the guys is great--really--but it's nice to chat with other women, too. (No offense, Fellas....) Barb |

Barbara,
Mostly the male demographic on this site, but we have one SuperMod we know as Sachi. We get a lot of female passers-by, though. Apparently, Sachi is on walkabout or somesuch, as she has been conspicuously absent for a good week or so. Maybe she's doing the 'Cougar' thing (BTW, where did that phrase come from? I must've not been paying attention...) and is on some beach, checking out the Spring Breakers. Or she's racing in the Iditarod. No telling.
