I'll put my two cents in.
If the woman is planning on taking the MSF course, and then riding something like a Ninja 250 during her first trimester, then I would say that that's not unduly risky. I would personally never ride with a kid on the tank, and I would always make any passenger wear a helmet; if they were a passenger on a normal basis, I would make sure they were wearing full gear. I agree with Sachi that women can (and should) make their own (informed) choices. |

But she asked for advice! thats the point, its not that she shouldn't make her on choice but she DID ask for OUR advice....
I rode on the tank with my dad, heh. Always wore a helmet, jeans and a jean jacket, mind you we rode on gravel road and dirt trails and i had gotten up to 55 on the little CL100 with him when i was a little kid. I can still remember the woods flying by us on the fire trails and power cuts. The power cuts were the best, i remember one day my dad went over a big bump and we ended up in the air. He never dumped it with me on it but my parents made sure i was totally covered. We used to go out occationally with my mom on the back with a back pack of food and go eat lunch in the woods. Thats really where i got my love of motorcycles from. |

By the same token someone who has never been in the military shouldn't be allowed to express an opinion about the Iraq War or any war. A lawyer, or anyone, who doesn't own a gun should not be allowed to express any opinion or vote about gun issues. Religious teetotalers should not be allowed to influence alcohol policy..... etc etc. City dwellers should be forbidden to express opinions or vote about issues dealing with the rural areas of the country. Only bankers are allowed to have money. This is fun.

Well I think it's entirely reasonable that someone from say Washington or some Californicator should have a say in what happens in say... Utah....
I mean it's by all admissions a beautiful state and a National Treasue of scenic wonderfulness that belongs to all citizens, even those who haven't quite got around to actually becoming citizens yet... Those of you who are fortunate to live in Utah should be proud to except our humble and benificial suggestions as to how you should run your affairs, like land use issues, accessibility, private gun ownership and what not.... It's the American Way........

Did you mean, "Only bankers are allowed to lose money"?
