Smile What triumph appears in How to Loose a Man in 10 Days

Hi Guys,

I'm looking to buy my first Triumph and I've seen the bike I like in the film 'How to Loose a Man in 10 Days'. I have explained to my local dealer the bike features and he has advise me it sounds like a scrambler with modified pipes but on the website it states it is a modified Bonnie! Can someone let me know as I do not want to buy the wrong bike to start with! The bike appears several times in the film and has a short front and back fender/mud guard and a single seat/rubber gaters this all made the guy in the shop believe it might be a scrambler the only contradiction was the low traditional exhaust which is on the bonnie but can be changed on the scrambler! I surpose these elements could all be changed on a either bike to look like this bike.

I have attached 3 images of the bike that may give enough info to one of you experts to identify to model.

I would appreciate your help as I would like to get my triumph ASAP!

Many thanks,

Col.

Looks like this one: Triumph Motorcycles - Bonneville

With a scrambler front fender? Or a Scrambler with low pipes? Hard to tell from those lousy pictures.

The bike was a Bonnie. The Scrambler variant was not available when the movie was filmed.

The bike, which had no VIN, was 'given' to a Florida Dealer to serve as the base for a Flat-track racer.

Any differences between the floor models and the bike in the film are normal for 'movie bikes'. For instance, the Speed Triple and Daytona in the chase scenes of Mission Impossible had knobbies mounted, and several other minor modifications.

One thing they do a lot is to put different mirrors on, or take them off altogether, because they get in the way of the camera shot. The ones on this bike appear to have had a matte finish applied.

Somebody has probably compiled a list of the movies that feature Triumphs. They've been in several movies lately.

Looks like a standard Bonnie with a Thruxton front fender and a Cafe` style seat. New Bonnies are like HD in that they are the same basic bike with different fenders and bars, seats etc. plus a ton of factory and aftermarket support. Mathew McConaughey is supposed to be a Bonneville nut, maybe it's his bike...

It's definitely just a modified Bonneville, one key way to tell is the engine/crank cover.

It's either polished or chromed, the Scrambler is black crinkle finish just like the basic Bonneville.

Just get a Bonneville that is close to what you want, put on the gators and whatever else you think is missing and enjoy. (I'm surprised the dealer didn't offer to do this for you)

I do not want to buy the wrong bike to start with!

So seeing a random bike in a chick flick, is the way to choose.

Well Moke ol' buddy Triumph has a bike for you! I'd recommend a Thruxton with some D&D megaphones, compared to your GSXR it'll be a complete slug but you'll be amazed how much fun you're having!

You'll have to pick out the right helmet yourself but Davida makes some beautiful period-correct hand made helmets though they'r pretty spendy....
