If you want to read good Triumph reviews, buy British bike mags.
I ride a Ducati and I'm still looking for a favorable review in a comparo on EITHER sude of the pond. Funny tho' in the recent 600 shootout the Daytona 675 came in dead last because it felt "wierd", yet it spanked the big four 600's on the track...hmmm. |

While your complaint is valid in most cases, and even though the staff here has always tried to take a "what we would spend our money on", the most expensive ride is often the winner, even when it's double the cost. It's unfortunate that the staff doesn't get to ride the cheaper bike farkled to the degree of the price increase, results would probably be different, but they don't. You've just got to view the review from that perspective. Take it from a guy who owns a Ducati, Aprilia and V-Strom, all generally not well reviewed against competitors.

"I bought a Triumph Sprint ST for it's bare knuckled, in-your-face raw appeal"
Wouldn't the only Triumph that could be descibed in that way be the Speed Triple? Sorry, I understand your point but I would hardly call any sport-tourer bare knuckled raw and in your face. If they were they wouldn't be very good at their intended job, would they. |

I worry less about what somebody thinks about my bike, and more about what I think of it. Who cares what the 'experts' say? If you dig it, that's all that counts. I'm having more fun toolinig around on an 800 buck GoldWing these days than anything else I own. I bet it wouldn't win any shootout contests, but who gives a crap? If somebody wants a 20 grand Beemer, more power to em if they dig it. I think too many people put waaaaaaay too much stock in others' opinions, and seem to get a bruised ego if their bike didn't win the latest 'shootout'. Less magazines to take to the Burger Barn! Ride what you like, and the hell with the rest of em.

Just because you live in a tiny little shack and can only afford an $800 clunker doesn't mean you're having fun.
How much can you bench press anyway?

An interesting exercise is to compare the amount of purchased advertising space vs the winners in comparos of some bike mags. One particular American print rag is quite shameless in it's toadying up to the biggest advertisers. Gotta keep them free trips to Japan coming.

Yup! If you took and ST, put in 10k worth of extras/mods, you could make a wicked bike. The same can be said for most decent low cost bikes.
