Re: Record Sales for Triumph

My Daytona makes about 130 rwhp. On the street, it's still total overkill.

It's not going to be all that easy to make 150-160 rwhp with a triple. They'll have to find a way to make it rev high enough. But the powerband is wonderful and the bike is smooooooth.

Does anybody complain about the Aprillias an Ducs that don't make 150? (For significantly more money.)

I've never ridden one but I've checked them out pretty thoroughly. Definately on the short list, but I already have a watercooled sporty-toury Triumph so I want a Bonneville next for a fun bike. If anything happened to my Trophy I'd look for a Tiger to replace it with.

How about the 599? Or the 919?

Bingo, umarth hits the nail on the head!

I've been looking at the little V Strom, no doubt it's a sturdy reliable motorcycle but they didn't exactly give it the same attention to detail the GSX R got, did they?

A great engine tied to an injection molded frame and parts bin components

Re: Record Sales for Triumph

I rode both the new ST and S3 last week. The ST, I put about 75 mostly highway miles, between 70-85 mph in a strong cross wind. Very, very, very fine machine. Could easily make me sell my Tiger.

The S3, I only rode about 25 miles, on a "controlled" test ride. But even then, you can tell that is on Hell of a machine. It has instant power, right now. Could easily make me sell my wife (kidding...).

Both engines (basically the same) were very smooth and the FI is flawless. Transmission are a step (or two) above my Tiger, again, very smooth. Both should sell very well.

I have the 05 Tiger. It's a great bike. I use it to commute on, and it's very comfortable. It IS tall, so it takes some getting used to. And it's not a "dirt friendly" bike. It's just a big street bike. It does come with hard bags, and it gets 45 + MPG, which I like. I would recommend the bike highly.

Saw on the Triumph site that the '05 model Tiger is sold out so they're releasing the '06 early.
