I am glad this bike is being continued in a new form.

I've always liked the 1050; looks like it only got better. 123/77 HP/Torque should make it a real hoot to ride.

True to Triumph practices of the past, it look just like a big Tiger 800XC. Which isn't all that bad!
And they have freed up a few ponies! The 2010 engine developed 111 bhp at 9,400 rpm and 72 ft.lbs at 6250 rpm. Lower it a tad, add lower fairings, and you'd have a new Sprint! (I hope I hope I hope)

I guess it had to happen, but I'm glad I got the 1050 Tiger AT. I would never tolerate the extra 100+lbs of the 1200Explorer. It's just too much weight.

I always liked the Tiger 1050. Now with the changes like the single sided swing arm, increase in HP and enhanced ergonomics this bike definitely makes my top 5.

Didn't the 1050 always have the single sided swingarm? Seru, does yours?
The 1200 is a monster, I sat on one at the dealer a while back and it just felt huge. The top of the tank was the size of the hood of my Mini...or at least it felt that big. It may be "light on it's feet" but it it's a fatass bike no doubt.

If I remember correctly tho old Tigers had double sided. My list of motorcycle attributes are fairly simple.
Fuel injection Superior brakes now to include ABS. ABS is advanced enough to be see less in execution. I still would like to maintain my non ABS breaking ability. Single sided swing arm Superior suspension like those found on S model Ducati's. Shaft drive if possible. I know the most direct power transfer is through a chain and modern chains are sealed but maintenance is still a messy business from my point of view. Some models in my top 5 are chain driven. For certain types of riding I want at least some level of wind protection along with a decent amount of storage. A national dealer network/presence. Tubeless tires/wheels. Less than 600 lb. wet weight.

Google Images says you're right, the original does have a 2-sided swingarm. And chain drive.
