Question Missing Cooling Fan???

I just picked up my new 2009 C90T on Saturday. I noticed tonight that it does not have a cooling fan behind the radiator. There appears to be a mounting bracket for the fan but there is no unused wiring harness evident in the area.

What am I missing.....other than a cooling fan?

My C50 had one why not this one?

I shouldn't have to say "see your Dealer", but I must say "See your Dealer".

If it's supposed to have one (and no reason I could come up with says it shouldn't) it could be it made it off the factory floor without one. Not likely, but it's possible. More likely, it was cannibalized somewhere down the line for another customer's bike, and the Tech forgot to tell someone else about it.

I went out and had a closer look. The holes in the mounting bracket are virgin black paint thru and thru. There has never been a fan attached to this bike.

I think the delema is solved.

Turns out that if I had taken the time to research things before I bought I would not post stupid questions. I got rid of my C50 and upgraded to C90. I was at a bike show and liked the looks of the bike so I bought it based on what I knew about my C50. I just assumed it was water cooled and the rad should have a fan like the C50.

My buddy just called laughing his ass off. He read the spec sheet in detail. (twice) Turns out this an oil cooler not a rad. The engine is air cooled and completely different than the C50. So much for my assumption it was just a bigger version of the C50.

I don't feel so bad because he was standing beside me when I bought the bike.

It is less likely that there is a fan on an oil cooler but certainly still raises the question as to why there is a bracket for a fan?? Could be the frame is common to something else they build that uses the brackets. Or maybe in some tropical climates they do mount a fan to suppliment convective cooling.

That's OK. I had no idea it was air-cooled either. But then, I don't ride cruisers (metric or otherwise) so have little interest in what cools the bike.

Sounds like it's prepped for an "upgrade" if you ride in hot areas and spend a lot of time idling in traffic.
