Default 1975 suzuki 185 enduro not starting

I am about to buy a not running enduro and was wondering what you guys might think the problem is, it ran when put away but now it wont start, the only thing I can think is varnish in the carb/bad gas. is it easy to clean the carb out on one of these? any pointers so when I get it here I may be able to fix it quickly?

Yes, it's probably a clogged up carburetor. You will need to check the seals in the 34 year-old lower end, too. Two-strokes don't run too well, or for very long, with bad crank seals.

yea well I really dont care about bad crank seals right now, all I want to do is get the bike to sputter like its going to start because then most likely I can fix it. being from 1975 does it have points? if it is, is there a way to convert it to modern ignition. this will be my first time messing with a motorcycle I've done countless repairs and mods to my go kart but thats a 4-stroke, the only 2-strokes I've messed with are the zooma scooters aka weed wacker sized engines
