The first AMA Sooperbike race was won by a 900cc BMW. Kawasaki came in a distant 4th.

You really should have known...

No, you're thinking of the Servi-Cycle.

Speaking of which - is it too much to goddamn ask that you not post race results in the header of your news article before the goddamn race is on goddamn television? It's customary and courteous to give a SPOILER warning in the header so those of us interested in watching the race when it airs can enjoy a little suspense, y'know?

I'm off thread here and discussing which was the first factory faired "sportbike". Didn't the 1974 R90S have a quarter fairing? Didn't it pre-date the quarter-faired Z1 by several years?

After all, we're not discussing the Cretacious period here. But if we do then the Vincent would probabably be considered in the Sportster's time period and it would blow it away powerwise.... not that it could actually out-sport a '57 Sportster considering the Vincent's atrocious girder fork and squirly rear suspension. The extra power isn't any help if it just tosses you off the road at odd unpredictable moments.

The Charter is a Suzuki topic.

How on topic is flapping about the Buell in an FX race?
