You can have that Yamaha,you know what the ha at the end stands for don't you. Ha! Ha! Ha! I didn't see many Yamaha's running Pro Stock Bike this year or any year for that matter.

No, graduated licensing doesn't restrict what you say, or who you associate with. (We have equal employment acts and the Supreme Court to do that.) It would restrict the distribution of the GSXR1000. It's called prior restraint. "You have the right to do as you wish, but you must first meet these requirements."



Doctor's licenses are different. The doctor is not operating on himself. When you ride a motorcycle, by and large, you are endangering only yourself.



I agree with the founding father's apprehensiveness about the universal right to vote, as well. I'm not quite sure if it's fair to allow people who live off of government have just as much say as those who are forced to support them.



Footnote: This all refers to the federal government. If a state or locality wishes to impose graduated licensing, that would, of course, be de facto constitutional via the tenth amendment.

Um... let me think... Did you happen to read the 2000 open bike shoot out??? There is non stop talk about the 929 needing a steering dampener, especially when running the 1/4 or getting on it, it "shakes its head at you the whole way." It does not mean that it is not a quality bike. I have personally thought about buying a 929 myself... but i have decided till the Gixxer 1000 is released here in feb.

With the possible exception of the brand new GSXR-600 breaking the 100 HP barrier, when Motorcyclist (the only mag I get) last did a 600 comparo, none of the bikes made it. I think the high was 96 rwhp or something. That's why I used the term "nearing", because most aren't there yet (according the the Motorcyclist dynos, anyways)

It's a fair question but if you've ever been to England for example, the reduced rates(if that is the case) could be the result of different driver styles, and more importantly, the attitude of car drivers towards those who choose two wheels instead of four. They do have a tiered license program for bikes, but more importantly to get a car license those people have to actually demonstrate an ability to not only drive, but understand the enviroment in which they drive. This means they are more courteous towards others who share the road(in my own experience). And I haven't seen or heard of another motorcyclist killing another until you mentioned it today. Probably an unusual occurance. I hope this doesn't harm the sensabilities of those anonymous posters with no name.

I'm humor deprived. Sometimes I don't even recognise it. Sorry. Don't beat me no more - I been good now for a long ti- Ouch!



I was thinking a month or so on a 250cc road-trail - a month or two on a Suzuki Accross, then a month on a CBR 400, an R6 for three months, then an openclasser. Roughly... Perhaps a couple of weeks on a big old GS1000 or GS850 or something.

Yeah, so do I - sort of. But - if there was no risk then it'd be a video game. The fact that (as Senna once said) you're playing with your life out there, is a big part of the appeal. Sportsbike riding is like - walk up to the brink and call old man Death - then spit in his face and go home again, unscathed. One day he's going to grab you around the throat for that - but in the meantime, you know you're alive.
