a) a few thouand miles will make the transmission shift a lot smoother

b) Termi or Staintune cans, opening up the airbox and installing the Ducati Performance ECM chip will sort out the fueling and make the bike sound and run the way God intended it to

Couldn't do it. Tried to resist.... 1st post!

Not a bad write up. The local Kaw/Honda dealer just became Ducati dealer. The majority of the bikes are gone already. I think Ducati has hit the nail on the head with this bike.

I bought one of the first Monster 600 Darks in the country. Ran so lean out of the crate I barely got home. After rejetting, titanium cans and open air box, it came to life. Still have great memories of that bike. Perfect for urban street play without getting into too much trouble. The only bike of the many I've owned that I occasionally miss.

When I was the F&I Mgr at Atlanta Triumph Ducati (how'd you like that pitch?) we move more of these Baby Monsters than anything in the lineup. In Ducati terms it's a beginner bike and I think that marketing it that way is fine for them, but it's really a fun little "in-town" ride. Inner-city riding is where this bike excels. It's really easy to ride for the experienced and a great way to learn. I would suggest this bike for the 30 and over crowd for only one reason: Maybe, just maybe, we that are over 30 are mature enough to NOT want to drop it doing stupid things that those under 30 have no problem with. Nice write up guys.

Just being the Insurance Specialist that I was for the previous 7 yrs. My office is in Cumming, GA (he was a Confederate General- get your mind out of the gutter ;-}) off GA HWY 400 just south of the Dawson County line. Twenty minutes away is some FINE riding. F&I was fun but I'm WAY better at the insurance stuff. So, no sales or F&I for me. If I ever decide to close or sell this I'm going to go to ROME, GA and build Suzuki ATVs. You should see the plant- Whew! is it ever clean...

I'm still chuckling about how motorcycles that are faster and more powerful than any bike available when I started riding in 1964 are now considered "beginner's bikes".
