KTM has a lot of interesting designs. Their new twin motors are not without issues (water pump and clutch, primarily) but they seem pretty reliable too, if the ADV guy's experience is any indication. Those guys would know too
I would guess the KTM would be less maintenance and headaches than the Duc over the long term. The KTM is a very desireable and different kind of bike. It would be nice to have one in the garage! Make mine a 690 Hard Dual Sport or whatever they call 'em. My FZ1, a new 690 and a WR450 for pure off road in the garage. One can daydream! Got the FZ1 and a DRZ400 and a borrowed slightly ratty trail modded CR250. Can't complain! Last edited by Duken4evr : 05-09-2009 at 09:26 AM. |

I think you are comparing the RC8R to the wrong bikes. Regardles of the R desigantion, the RC8 is meant to be mostly a unique street bike, not a dedicated track bike. How does it stack up to the Buell 1125R, BMW k1300R, or MV Agusta? I think comparing it to Ducati and Aprilia is very valid on the street, not the track. Who cares that the ZX-10R is 15mph faster? Unless your paid to ride on the track all day it probably still more bike than most riders can handle at speed.
