Sound advice for those who can't or won't ride in the winter, a properly laid up bike will sit for ages with no problems. My '02 bandit had sat for close to 3 years when I bought it but the p.o. had put Stabil in the tank and filled it to the top, ran a battery tender on it and had it well covered. It only took a few tankfulls of fresh gas to flush everything out, along with an oil and filter change and new tires and the bike ran like new.
If you're lucky or crazy like me you can ride all winter, sometimes my bike will sit for a week or two because of snow and ice or torrential rain but the first chance I get I take it out for an hour and get the oil circulating. If you can't do that then you need to lay it up right.

I try to ride all winter, at least once per week. The weather here in the mid-Atlantic seaboard usually permits it.
Last year, I wasn't able to ride for about two weeks because of snow and ice. It just about drove me crazy.

There's a thread or two about studding tires and snow riding over at the Rounders forum. It's a lot of fun if you are prepared!

Blues? What blues? That's what the snowmobile is for.

Y'all wouldn't have winter blues if you'd bought HOG when I told you to! It's gone from $12 to $17 since then and of course I chickened out and didn't buy any!

I'm retiring in two years. I pulled all my investments into Govt bonds just before the socialist wackos took control of Congress in 2006. While the market has collapsed (actually it lost over 10% per year since 2006, even before the recent troubles) my investments have grown. I ain't going back into the National Lottery Pool again, thank you.
