Supermoto is as fun to watch as any other type of racing. Their lack of a 'big name' and limited ad budgets hurt them. Hell, the 'Superbikers' made it to national TV back in the day with the same type of racing. They can make it again with the right type of promotion.

I think that supermoto could be much bigger than it is. It's much cheaper to compete in and tracks are smaller and easier to lay out than superbike/supersport tracks. It is much cheaper for individuals to get into. Personally I enjoy watching supermoto as much as flattrack and both are much more entertaining for a day's entertainment than the bigger venues. What it takes is a shift in motorcycle buying habits amongst younger riders towards supermoto style bikes. Too bad that they all seem to only be interested in race replicas.

Tracks like Rd Atlanta, VIR, Daytona, Fontana, Rd America, Mid-Ohio, and Infineon could all fit Supermoto into their venues. DMG should encourage promoters of these venues to run SM races as support races in the morning after practice before the first races start at 1pm.
DMG has Yamaha and Ducati locked into the season for Superbike. You'd be mistaken if you think that Kawi and Honda would not participate. Leaving Suzuki. In the end Suzuki will cave. Mat's gotta race somewhere and the checks are too good to pass up. So, whay not put 7 rounds of SM on the schedule. The fans will already be on track. The Promoters can cross-sell the promo material. And you can get road racers to bring out the practice SM bikes to fill the field. It's all based on the pitch. If Kurt, Gavin and Troy Lee would go to DMG and tell them they need help to save the series and to start pitching it to the promoters you could easily come up with a seven round season. You could even run some of these races after the roadracing is done for the day. In Atl the last Saturday race is at 5. At 6pm the sun is still shining and Rd Atl has lights around turn 5-9 so you could race at night. Gotta keep the campers entertained. There are many ways to keep the light shining. It's a matter of who's controlling the flame.
