My Ride Report…
My daughter and I rode Highway 36 West from my hometown of Red Bluff, CA, to Fortuna, down the Avenue of the Giants, back to Fortuna where we spent the night. The next morning, we rode to California's Lost Coast out of Ferndale, up the Avenue of the Giants, ate at the Samoa Cookhouse near Eureka and then went home on Hwy 299 through Willow Creek, Weaverville, Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, and Redding. If you ever eat at the Samoa Cookhouse you should buy a freshly baked loaf of bread. I usually call in advance to have them hold two loaves for me. 456 Miles ![]() Highway 36 West – My daughter Elizabeth ![]() Avenue of the Giants – Hi, I’m Paul ![]() ![]() Humbolt Redwoods State Park ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by TallPaul : 05-26-2009 at 06:52 PM. |

Awesome pics Paul!
We really need to get together, I am always looking for an excuse to ride and this one is one that is on my bucket list as I have never been on the coast, north of the bay, yet.

When did they lose the coast, and what are their chances of finding it again?
Seriously, very nice post. I envy riders who have roads with curves and that go over hills and stuff.
