Default Will AHRMA Survive Ianucci/Team Obsolete?

AHRMA's a great racing organization, but I'm afraid that with all of Rob Ianucci/Team Obsolete's lawsuits filed for them kicking him out, their future existence is in doubt.

Will he end up bankrupting or owning them?

Woo hoo...this new Production Singles class looks quite interesting. Wonder if they'll allow the KTM LC4 Supermoto to run as well? Same motor as the Duke, and somewhat less weight, though the Duke has by far the edge in suspension and braking. I'm not so sure the Blast (slow & soft) or Bimmer (HEAVY!) will be particularly competitive though, especially since the stock carb must be used. At any rate, it should be interesting...

Default The Duke will rule the class...

The starting bike has to be intended for the street (so no LC4 Supermoto) and using origional wheels (so no motarding-out road going DP bikes), and no major engine modifications, so the Duke will rule that class: nothing else on the street in this class comes close to the power and handling of the Duke.

the whole team obsolete debacle is what happens when a bunch of guys interested in running old bikes and having fun doing it get infiltrated by someone with too much money and no sense of humor. we ran wera meets back in the 80's, team obsolete didn't show up much there, but we did not relish the thought of high buck machines gridding with our shade tree specials. i watched them really foul the ahrma scene up, some guys that ran with us in wera went to ahrma meets also, so i know a bit of the history of these guys. not real sportsman-like, overall. kind of like "joe backyard" up against h**** or d***** factory, except that there are 200 joe backyards and 1 BIG money-runner. and BIG money wants the rules his way, because he is BIG money. we retired, would love to get back in it, though, perhaps it may come to be again. love to field the big norton and the little ducati again.

It's seriously down on displacement, but would the Aprilia RS50 (two-stroke; street-legal) qualify? I couldn't find a cylinder configuration on Aprilia USA's page, but I assumed it was a single. It wouldn't have the power of the Duke, but at 169 lbs and with sport-oriented frame and suspension, I figure it would handle beautifully.

Default Never mind... plus a question

Just saw that the bikes have to be four-strokes. So no Aprilia RS.



So the ONLY bikes I can think of available for this are:

KTM Duke (a real contender)

MuZ Sport Cup (a real contender)

BMW F650 (good streetbike, but not suited to racing)

Buell Blast (I thought bikes had to be somewhat fast in order to be raced)



So are there ANY other bikes out there that qualify for this class?

Default No Aprilia

The AHMRA website states that the production singles class is for 4 strokes only.

If a year isn't specified, then my SR500 and SRX600 qualify.



Lots of DP bikes qualify, but who'd want to roadrace a stock KLR650?



Honda made an NX650 Dominator for a while, but the wheels aren't 17 inchers.

Default LC4

Is indeed a streetbike- lights, turnsignals, horn, etc. It's also lighter than the Duke.



An MuZ, carefully jetted, with an aftermarket exhaust, would be quite competitive against the KTM's, especially when you factor in reliability. Sure, the KTM is strong if you tear it down after each weekend, but this is going to be about club racers without a lot of resources. I hope it sells a lot of MuZ's.
