![]() I've never thought too highly of laws that allow seizures of property based on an accusation alone. And now its not just those pesky drug dealers losing their property. Is slumbering middle America about to wake up and smell their civil rights swirling down the toilet? Probably not as most of us do ride like sensible people and rarely run from the police.

![]() Once again, I must have worked for the only ethical police department in the country, since my time as a police officer completely contradicts most of the comments made on this topic. Unfortunately, some cops with bad attitudes give the rest of the officers a bad rep.

![]() I don't doubt that most cops are decent and ethical, the vast majority of the ones I've come into contact with be it as neighbors or on the job have been entirely reasonable people. However all it takes is one or two with an attitude and your day is ruined

![]() That's funny. I've been pulled over two times. Both times, "I can't believe you stopped. Thank you." And then, "Please sign the back of your $400 ticket. Have a nice day." I never shoot my mouth of, I wear ATGATT, and ride very safely (i.e., I don't speed around other traffic).

![]() That'll play well in the public eye. "Rabid armed bikers viciously attack our earnest police force! Blood-drinking suspected!"

![]() Here's my plan. (Disclaimer: I'm not an attorney, and I don't play one on TV.)
Step 1: Find a local criminal attorney, for future reference. Pay a small retainer if required, especially if said attorney is known to lunch regularly with local govt. representatives and/or judges. Point out that you have no intention to break any laws if you like; you'll likely be told not to include your attorney in any such planning in any case. (I need to update this relationship, myself, as I doubt the guy who handled my divorce still remembers me.) Step 2: The phrase is "I need to speak to my attorney, and I do not consent to any search." Practice it, don't just memorize it. Aside from identifying yourself and being pleasant, it's all you'll say of consequence. Remember to accept the ticket in whatever manner is indicated, as it's a crime to refuse to sign in some places. Step 3: Consider earning a JD yourself, just so you can keep up with what thery're trying to do to you... |
