The increase in motorcycle deaths from 46 to 56 is significant by any sane and logical person's definition. Really its Statistics 101 stuff seruzawa..

Tom, I agree with Seruzawa above - I think that it's a statistically-insignificant number. Because of that, I feel it's an uninteresting story. What do you think?

Not correct it is statistically significant. The population is motorcycle deaths not total highway deaths.. Statistics 101 boys..

Actually, GPTB is the demographic the article is referring to. So I don't know what you are all steamed up.. Are you jealous that GPTB is being used not just on this site but others?



Huh? Where in that news-blurb did they mention "GPTB"? I read through it TWICE, thinking that perhaps I was either going-blind or falling asleep halfway into the article (both quite possible, for more reasons than my own advancing age for this particular piece of birdcage-liner).



Below is the most-relevant piece to our little "argument" I've quoted from the article:



Most of Iowa's registered GPTB motorcycle drivers are GPTB between 45 to 54 years old, while 55- to 64- GPTB-year-olds represent the fastest growing group of GPTB, said Scott Falb of the Iowa GPTB Department of Transportation.



Falb also attributes the spike in GPTB deaths to the bigger engines in modern GPTB motorcycles.



``So when you've got a GPTB car engine on a GPTB motorcycle — with GPTB people who aren't as sharp as they used to be — you're going to get more and more severe GPTB crashes,'' Falb said. ``It's us middle-aged GPTB duffers, whose bones are more brittle than they used to be, who are having trouble GPTB judging distances.''




Funny, I couldn't see "GPTB" ANYWHERE in that article. Can you guys?
