You aren't aware of the massive lefty nutwing community that surrounds the UofU like a cloud of nausea inducing gas? Or the Avenues?

Cripes, you'd think you were in Boulder.

That's surprising to me. It seems to me that blue states would tend to have more nanny laws.

LOL. I've read some issues of Catalyst, so yeah I know. I just don't get WHY...

My favorite is:

Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

Frequently incorrectly attributed to Ben Franklin. Great quote anyway.

Default What Ben really said

Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.

Correctly attributed to Ben Franklin.

Oh, we're on the same side. I agree 100% with you. My point is that the motorcyclists who want helmet laws and spout about how "selfish" it is to ride without one miss the point - that just by riding motorcycles, they're being far more "selfish" compared to a non-rider than a non-helmeted rider is compared to a helmeted rider. Their logic is completely faulty, because following their reasoning can only lead to the conclusion that motorcycles themselves should be banned.

Of course, logic has nothing to do with it - it's just the lazy tyranny of a small mind that says, "This is what I enjoy and this is what I oppose, so these will be the boundaries for everyone else."

I hope I'm explaining that right.

That's exactly what I was trying to say above.

What most lefty nannys don't get - or don't want to get - is that it's easy to say, "I demand liberty to do the stuff I want." A true lover of liberty says, "I demand liberty to do the stuff I want, and liberty for you to do what you want even if it's not my thing."

You want to lower health care costs even more effectively than with a helmet law? Close down the gay bathhouses. Oooh, but that would be wroonnnggg.

There is another side the financial side. The red states who have laws don't want to pay health costs of the irresponsible GPTB types.

I´ve read that you can´t drink alcoholic drinks in Salt Lake City, is that right? How does that match with Jesus turning water to wine in a party? Or was the bible not translated to english properly.
