Ah, but you'd be wrong. I am a motorcycle insurance specialist and there are probably less than 50 of us in the country. I may be the only one in GA. Since commisions are paid based on sales my rate is the same as anyone else in the field. If you sell a quoted product for less than the Insurance company's quote you will be shut down by your insurance commissioner. As far as the "better job for less" goes: No insurance agent out there knows more about placing motorcycles than I do- so there, blah, blah and two pair of pants. Furthermore, if you are not smart enough to learn how to adapt to your work environment then you loose. Those that learn succeed. Those that don't live on welfare.

"if you are not smart enough to learn how to adapt to your work environment then you lo[o]se"

So funny. You chastise folks for not ‘adapting’ but by your own admittance 1.) your income rates are protected by legislation and 2.) you have very little competition.

"No insurance agent out there knows more about placing motorcycles than I do"

How would you know? You are the only agent in GA remember Â…

"Those that don't live on welfare."

Are we in Canada?

Personally if I was in your shoes IÂ’d be a little worried.

An offshore setup with a license to sell in your area may be more competition than you can handle. Just think if

1.) They use very sophisticated marketing (email, phone calls, mail shots, advertising on tv, magazines and rallies),

2.) They have strategic alliances with motorcycle manufacturers, retailers, banks, financing houses, repair and body shops, hospital and health care fascilities

3.) They have 24 hours toll free help lines manned by highly trained and lowly paid English speaking Indians/Pilipinos

4.) They have a very sophisticated and user friendly web sites

5.) Have the ability to provide better products than you?

Can you match that? What does your marketing strategy look like? What type of user support do you give? 24 hours if I have a claim?

Maybe then youÂ’ll like folks like me who would take being American into consideration when spending money.

I also know HD often gives dramatic discounts to law enforcement agencies, which would make using their products much more viable. I personally know a few cops and they'd prefer a non-HD bike also. But then that's just my opinion.

A bit off topic, but I also think that cops shouldn't be driving large gas guzzling SUVs/trucks/cars. Who care if it has a small back seat, criminals shouldn't have large cushy seats anyway.

I read somewhere that BMW was "giving" away the bikes, the service package, and mechanic training to get the "Cop Bike" cachet that Kawasaki once had.

Good luck.

some foreigner out there will do a better job for less..true ..thats called competition ...

where i am sometimes that foriegner is an american.....if you cant live and die by the service you provide then whats the point ?...

in the past in both europe and america governments have artificially propped up industry by inposing tariffs on imported goods to make home industry compete .... effectively subsidising poor businesses that doesnt seem like any kind of long term plan?

the cops over here ride pan europeans, some bmws not much and some old kawasaki gt 550s? i think...no strong european bias ...and i am surprised that the debate in that police force was between bmw and harley that the honda was not even considered ..a far superior bike in my opinion

anyhow my point being just to buy american ..or european because it supports your home industry may be short term good ..but long term unless the product is good on its own merits well are you not promoting a lazy non competitive industry ...which your tax dollar may eventually wind up helping?

It's not about helping the economy, it's about buying police motorcycles.

Now that Polaris owns a huge chunk of KTM, maybe we'll see 950 Adventure cop bikes?
