Yeah, with all the HDs and metric stuff I think they're going to take gas big on this one.

Speaking of off-brands I don't see ANY Victory's on the street around here. Not one. That should tell 'em something. Chris Craft panders to the wealthy, maybe that's what they're trying to do with Indian. Rotsa ruck. Wonder if it's the "Powerplus" malaise again?

Yeah, just like Excelsior-Henderson, nice new plant, nice trained work force, nice big state grant and tax breaks..........

The only way bringing Indian back that has a hope in hell of working is to do the same thing Bloor did with Triumph. Build a modern line of sports and sports touring bikes and support them through the lean years till they get their name and reputation up. "Maybe" then come out with a retro version with a propriatory design. If they start out with fat (or skinny) fendered S&S Harley clones they'll be tits-up before the ink dries on the paperwork.

Default injuns for indians

Since this is a Brit company, I suggest they use Vincent (HRD) motors. Or at least a modern motor sorta-like a Vincent. For the Scout, they could use Norton Manx singles and have the latest in desmo valve systems. As a last resort, a 8/80 or 9/90 JAP v-twin.

You do see a few Victories out here on the west coast. They look very well finished. I know this company is supposed to specialize in bringing back old, tarnished names, and restore their reputation, but this will be the oldest and most tarnished name they have tried yet. While I'm not about to send out a deposit on one, I do hope they find a way to resurrect a proud, old name.

I heard that they were going to call one model the Cherokee but that Chrysler's Jeep division threatened to Sioux.

I did forget to specify whether 4-stud or 5-stud JAPs. The JAP speedway bikes (single cyl 500cc) were really neat with total loss oil systems - the smell of burnt castor oil was intoxicating. Hic.

A Flying Merkel or Cyclone board track motor would do too. The exposed valve springs were easy to lube.

Hey, neat way to work an obscure "The Beast" reference into the Script!
