That's what's great about smaller companies. Some of them have the b@lls to do something a little different. They have to in order to swim with the sharks. The big companies just keep doing what's been working. Although, Kawasaki's been showing its nutsack a little more often. Yamaha has done some mildly innovative things, too, but the results are decidedly mixed.

I don't know, the ZX-14 seems to fit that description pretty well--even though it's got a whole lot of power.

Agreed. Based on what we know about the V-Max, it's a different type of bike althogether, although, I'd like to see it become a little more of a capable naked bike and not just a super-powered quasi-cruiser.

Yes, but they are keeping the tried and true surface effect carburetor.

That's probably a sure bet since the Dynas are injected now.

Hopefully the touring chassis will get a redesign now that the other lines have been updated. I'd like to see a new Glide with a stiffer frame like they did with the Dyna.

Your knowledge of V-max history must be lacking. The Max IS the original power cruiser. In '85 it was the first bike of its kind to break 140 crank hp. So, as you can see it's not a super-powered quasi-cruiser. It's THE super-powered quasi-cruiser. After 22 years of life an update is needed and welcomed.

There's some stiff competition from Al Gore this year. That guy's a jackass.

No, actually, it's not lacking at all. My cousin had one of the early models way back in the mid-eighties. And as I remember, he came back looking like a ghost after he pushed the thing a little in the corners few times.

I understand that it was the original power cruiser. I said I'd like to see it become "a little more of a capable naked bike" not necessarily a Speed Triple. I just can't see 180hp bike that won't turn. Keep that amount of rake in the front end and that's what you'll have.

But I guess a bike with 180hp has very little to do with being rational in the first place.

I would have to agree that the bikes are two completely different animals. Can someone tell me the difference between a superbike and a cruiser? I am 38 and can't wait for a new BlackBird or my money will soon be spent on a 1200GS or KTM Adventure. I just may wait to see if Ducati puts footrests for a passenger (have to take the wife sometimes or you'll never here the end of it!) on it's new 2007 supermoto.
