That study is not about economics, but about identity and image. The point isn't that rich folks are physically or economically displacing the poor (though that happens too), but that they're appropriating working class "identifiers", like motorcycles and tattoos.

Actually I believe he did understand it, and therefore deemed it worthless. What next, a treatise on the rich developing an affectation for belly button lint thereby disenfranchising the poor?

I wish he'd do SOMETHING.If he had some real motorcycle experiences, maybe he could develope some original, intelligent thoughts instead of borrowing from the net;and maybe, just maybe,if he had some experiences of his own he wouldn't envy and attack those who have an extensive motorcycle background.KPAUL----stop surfing the net and RIDE!!!!! wear out your bike and buy another....maybe even learn to wrench a little!!! DO SOMETHING!!!! Live it instead of reading and writing about it

Perhaps you've missed about half the threads here over the last ten years making fun of RUBs and all the other wannabe badasses.

The whole notion that some white trash guy is "disenfranchised" because some Rubby appropriated his "look" and the fact that some pointy heads at a University had to study it is so laughable it's practically a Simpsons episode. It was actually! (Homer wins a Harley).

I can only pray taxpayer money didn't go to fund this giant waste of time. However considering UC Irvine once spent $100,000 of taxpayer money to find out if beer advertising caused people to buy more beer, I'm not hopeful and if some trailer park dweller starts wearing a tie and raiding old ladies pensions, I'll feel woefully disenfranchised.

Just ask Fonz or Pete to check the IP address of the above posts and we'll have our answer.

You couldn't be more wrong! The bike, beer and BBQ study would be infinitely more valuable.
