Re: "a whole generation of girls into wh....s"

Sadly I was already married and off the market.

Darn! I missed out.

As for the girls now. I've got my first granddaughter on the way and I'm scared to death! You'all may be reading about me in a few years, keeping her locked up until she's 40! I do know she won't be allowed to date anyone without grandpa sitting in between them where ever they go.

What was that movie where Kirk Douglas was a mountain man and he was sitting around the campfire with a jug, cutting off his fingers for fun? Man, those were the days...

Maybe next the SF gutter punks can start drinking bleach. Or drano. See if the boozwa middle class can copy that.

They say it used to be fashionable to have pale, milky skin when most people worked outdoors, so people would know you could afford not to spend all day in the fields. Then when people worked indoors, the fashion became getting a tan so that it wouldn't look like you spent all day in a factory.

And I don't quite get how this is supposed to displace the poor. Can this professor really picture the typical guy who wants a bike from Orange County Choppers scanning the under-$1500 classifieds for a ratbike? Or visiting a back-alley tattoo shop to get inked? Besides which, more guys buying new motorcycles means a better supply of used bikes. Guess sociology doesn't require much of a sense of economics.

No wonder they call sociology the study of people who do not need to be studied by people who do.

I have reached the same conclusion. Further evidenced by increasingly entrenched govt. corruption and preoccupation with issues that are, in reality, trivial rather than addressing things that require painful resolutions. Members of the Titanic chapter of the Deck Chair Rearrangers Guild will meet on the foredeck at noon.

Was that The Big Sky, with Kirk Douglas and Dewey Martin? I think the finger was infected and in need of being cut off.

As for the "Boozwa" , Monkey see monkey do.

Yeah, that was it...great movie.

Might have been infected but he had fun doing it. Douglas was being typecast around that time as a self-mutilater..like in Vincent Van Whathisname.

Maybe I'll have a big slug of absynthe and dig that one out of the VCR tape archives.

Why do you think this is drivel? That sentence makes perfect sense, and the article was pretty interesting and insightful.

Just because you don't understand something, doesn't mean that it's worthless.
