Did you ever notice how many rocks there are in Colorado? Soften up the state a wee bit and I bet there are far fewer deaths.

If I'm not mistaken, old farts represent the fastest growing segment but squids still lead the parade.

There is a difference between fastest growing and most accidents overall statistics.

Damn I'm over 40 now. I'm going to have to take up sewing.

Buzz, you're right. But that's not my point. Littledx maintains that "power rangers" are BY FAR the most irresponsible, stupidest and self-destructive riders on the road and that they make up the vast majority of motorcycle crash deaths. Hell, they might even be demonic by nature. And don't you know, the insurance companies say so?

The stats as quoted by the INSURANCE INFORMATION INSTITUTE say the complete opposite: Fatalities for older riders are going up while fatalities for younger riders are going down. Turns out that it's nearly spilt right down the middle, so there seems to be equal amounts of stupidity in both groups.

He also called the idea that older riders are actually dying in equal numbers "unsubstantiated BS." Because the insurance companies and one of his relative's says so, doncha know.

According to III, over-40 riders (we'll have to assume the vast majority are cruiser riders) make up nearly half (46%) of all motorcycle deaths. What we don't know from these stats what proportion over-40 riders make up of the general motorcycling population. If they're are less riders over 40 than under 40, the news is even worse. But at this rate, if trends continue, they'll easily make up the majority of crash deaths by next year.

Or the death rate might peak. If history is any lesson at all it's that most people only ride a few months or years and then quit after the novelty wears off. In a few years there may be only a fraction of these over 40 riders.

Either way time will tell.

Default Pedophile-dad speaking out his ass again

Get a quote for any sport bike 600 cc and up vs. a similar quote for a cruiser. And please, try get you point across in fewer sentences, as I have difficulty reading so much fiction. (I am being kind calling your ***** fiction)

"You're so full of sh*t I'm starting to wonder if you even own a motorcycle."

Ooo, now you've hurt my feelings ...

That could be very true. My guess is that it won't happen all that soon, though.

If you could just keep the over 40 types sober, I presume the accident rate would drop quite a bit.

Default Curiouser and curiouser

KP calls him Peebad and dx calls him pedophile dad.

Posts have similar logic yet completely opposite opinions.

Default Some more out-of-ass commentary from pedophile-dad.

Not one single statement carries one shred of data pertaining to the cruiser vs. sport bike split pertaining to accident.

"we'll have to assume the vast majority are cruiser riders"

Yes, pedo-dad, all you have are assumptions. Fact you do not have Â…

Of course pedo-dad omits some minor facts such as

"Almost two thirds of the fatalities were associated with speeding as an operator contributing factor in the crash " {FARS (Fatality Analysis Reporting System)}

"Half of the fatalities are related to negotiating a curve prior to the crash" {FARS}

"Collision with a fixed object is a significant factor in over half of the fatalities" {FARS}

"Braking and steering maneuvers possibly contribute for almost 25 percent of the fatalities"{FARS}

Mmm, I wonder what biker genre is most related with the infantile antics described above Â…

Wouldn't it be great if it turned out Bigdx was KPaul's wife!

IT would be MO's version of "The Crying Game".
