Re: One Man

At first I was offended by the remarks you made, but then I realized, the Damn Fool hasn't been here! Mustn't have! You cannot make judgements based on what Hollywood or the media gives you. If that were true, I would have a lot of negative impressions about the Europeans (dirty, crooked teeth, pompus, alcoholic, hate Americans, random violence and terrorism, etc.). I have been to Europe and I can say that none of these stereotypes are absolutely true. In the future, don't paint with such a broad brush. You'll miss out.

"Oh, one more thing: don't flex on my grammar. I speak your language much better, than you'd speak mine."

You're right...

1) We don't have to speak your language because the international standard in business is English. So your language doesn't mean anything to us.

2) We don't speak imbecile.

Been to any riots at your local soccer game recently?

As far as your "bad opinion" of Americans goes...

GOOD!

Stay the hell out of our country & lobby your government not to ask us for help. While you're at it, try paying us back the loans you owe us.

You speak of the American "compete or die" mentality. Once again you are wrong. When it comes to mouth-breathers like you, we would prefer if you skipped the "compete" part.

Though, all in all, I have to hand it to you. Only a true cretin could take the news of a poorly run motorcycle company, on a m/c website, and twist it into a bash of Americans as a whole. Congratulations! You're an idiot.

Re: One Man

i really love europeans! i'm an "egocentric mindless robot", yet you end your letter by stating that you speak my language much better than i do. you have never met me or spoken to me, so where the HELL do you get off making a statement like that? did the europeans put the first man on the moon? and why the hell do we have to come save your superior asses whenever you get in a war? if not for us, you'd all be speaking german and goose-stepping while giving the nazi salute. (oh, excuse me! the guy with the little mustache was one of those "superior europeans", too). glad you did enjoy the kenny roberts interview in your superior european magazine. let's see, where did this fellow

roberts come from? is this the same roberts that was going to get his ass kicked by that "superior

european" barry sheen? come to think of it, isn't there another kenny roberts wearing the world championship crown now? i remember how those "superior european" fans threw bottles and sticks at brad lackey when he was beating the superior european motocross riders in the early '80s.

oh yeah, who holds the record for most consecutive

motocross des nations titles? is it the superior europeans? just to show i don't hold any grudges, i'd like to extend an invitation; how about coming over to the USA this summer and doing a little touring around our moronistic country? i've got lots of friends who would be REALLY interested in all this

"superior european" talk. especially when it's coming straight from the "superior european" mouth!

Re: One Man

Excellent point!

I'm in NYC and the only place I ever saw an E-H was in a picture in the cycle mags. You would think that one place you would see one would be in the NYC (or even the tri-state!) area.

Trying to make your product "exclusive" is one thing...but people have to see it!! That's one of the things Victory did right.

Smokey,

The simple fact that this loser first labels himself as a "European" then goes on to accuse Americans as having a lack of culture should have been your first clue.

At least we would never lump our identity in with a bunch of other countries.

Re: One Man

They must have dropped this requirement because I have seen at least two E-H dealers - in Cincinnati and in Reno - who carried multiple lines. They were both large Honda/Yamaha etc. dealerships that had added E-H to their mix.

Gabe 02-18-2001 09:57 AM

But!

E-H DID get Government assistance- Minnesota gave them a massive tax credit to build the lavish, too-big production facility.

If you think "social engineering" is a waste of money, than blowing public funds on an impractical, poor-selling parade barge company like E-H should be criminal.

Re: One Man

Let's go one by one.

The first motorcycle ever was created by Michaux-Perreaux in France in 1868. This bike had steam powered engine.

First petrol powered motorcycle by Gottlieb Daimler in Germany in 1885.

The carburettor was invented by two Hungarian engineers ( Janos Banki and Donat Csonka ) in 1893.

The first motorbike offered to the public were introduced in Germany in 1895 made by Hildebrand and Wolfmuller.

First motorcycle in the States : 1896 with steam powered engine by Geneva.

Oldest motorcycle brand in the States w/petrol powered engine: Indian, made by a Swedish engineer named Carl Oscar Hedstrom in 1901.

Harley was introduced in 1909, but only a few were produced due to unreliability. The first " reliable " Harley was introduced in 1911.

Thats about 43 years difference between Europe and the States.

If you go to a M/C show in Europe you'll barely see Harleys or Harley aftermarket parts. Interestingly, the most winningest and most beautiful custom Harleys created in Europe.

If Harley advertised on TV or not I do not know, 'cause I don't watch much TV...I leave that for you guys... but they're advertised everywhere else, even in Playboy magazine. They must be very desperate or greedy... maybe both.

To say " Live free or Die " is pretty controversial in the country of modern age slavery.

I spent 7 plus years in the States and travelled Coast to Coast twice on motorbike and I've been in 48 states. That's definitely wasn't Hollywood-ish.

The United States of America has the most debt in the face of this Planet.

There was only one lousy vote against german language as national language in the States.

I'm sorry if I hurt anybody's feeling, but this is the land of free, isn't it? So I can talk openly about my feelings. I guess.

Wolfie, for you, here's a joke even you can understand:

The R & D staff at a Cal Tech developed a new supercomputer that will carry on a conversation with a user based on in his intellect and IQ.

User 1 sat dow at the computer and was asked his IQ by the computer. Entering 206, the user was then treated ta an enjoyable conversation on such advanced concepts as astrophysics relativity and so on.

User 2 sat down at the computer and was asked his IQ. The user entered 175 and was soon engrossed in a conversation on existentialism, which was right on target with his intellect.

Wolfie sat down at the computer and was asked his IQ. Wolfie entered the sorry number of 47. The computer sat silent for a while, then the following message appeared on the screen: " So? How's the Harley running? "

Thankyouverymuch. I rest my case.

Boringly typical anti-American socialist Eurodrivel...

as he sits there enjoying his ability to communicate with us because of companies like IBM, Microsoft, Intel, Cisco, Oracle etc. while enjoying even more his freedom and protection from aggression provided by American military technology, and quite possibly alive only thanks to American pharmaceutical firms. What the USA does best is technology, what the Europeans do best is that "marketing" he accuses us of (why else would anybody spend 50 times what a watch is worth to get a Rolex?)

We do technology best because we haven't gone completely socialist yet, and thus people can still actually get rewarded for developing it. Then the Japanese build better copies of it because they at least still have a work ethic. You Europeans don't have either one anymore. The overpriced baubles you make depend on affluent American social climbing snobs to stay in business be it an Audi, a Gucci, a Ducati or a chianti (add fava beans if you're one of the millions of Europeans who also watch tasteless American movies).

You shouldn't let your jealousy show so obviously. It isn't in good taste, and the cleverly marketed perception of good taste is about all Europe can sell to the rest of the world these days.
