Me either but as long as someone, somewhere resists others attempts to determine their attire (fashion/safety police) this will remain a relevant topic here IMHO. For the new guys out there, I wear a helmet 99% of the time I ride but will always support those that choose to do otherwise. It is nice that old what's his name isn't partaking in this thread.

I doubt they would lower your rates for wearing a helmet. They'd just raise the rates on those that don't.

Don't call it a 'helmet thread.' Let's call it a 'Why we shouldn't have another 'helmet thread' thread.'

Your response is sort of my point. People resort to philosophical/inherent-rights-of-man arguments about helmets but nobody seems outraged by seatbelts, which to me is very similar law. Without dragging world politics into this, it just seems to me that cars are motorcycles are already similar in the eyes of the law, both being motorized vehicles for use on public roadways. IMHO.

It's also called natural selection.

Make that "cars AND motorcycles are already ..." not "cars are motorcycles". Duh.

Hell, that's half the fun of living here. Red states, blue states, north/south, christian/jew, urbanite/farm boy, we're just full of choices. And that is the key. We have so many opinions because we can have opinions. Some opinions are risky but that's the salt on the fries.

Hey I'm opposed to seat belt laws just as much as helmet laws, smoking bans, and all the like.
