(first post!)

Chivalrous? Sounds like he endangered her life. But being incarcerated for speeding is ludicrous. Give him a fine (speed tax) and send him on his way.

im probably speaking to the choir here but here goes it o well...

1) this individual just makes us all look bad. something else for stupid people with nothing to do but look for crusades to complain about. fu.cking idiot.

2) jail him? considering the amount of KE (kinetic energy) a 600-700 lbs payload going 125-145 mph has... compared to oh... a SUV going 75 mph... i think its a waste of taxpayer dollars to haul his @ss to jail.

"we need a deterrent."

if we need a deterrent, then impound his bike and fine the FU.CK OUT OF HIM, so he will be less likely to ride again... but jail? not with my tax money. ridiculous (equally ridiculous as the speed he reached on roads... )

Default Jail the punk

1. He endangered himself, the girl and others. A 700 lb bike and rider can do a lot of damage to a geo metro, honda civic, another bike, pedestrian.

2. Does any one really believe his story? Why did he have to speed that much above the speed limit?

3. Passenger without a helmet, probably the first time on his bike.

4. He is a punk they should take his bike away.. Make us all look bad

Actually, a good ass whipping might do him a world of good. He is lucky that he is not looking at Vehicular Homicide!

Butt wipe!

Yeah, he's an idiot, but what'll be the barrier for throwing someone in the klink? 145? 125? 95?

I'm more concerned about semi-blind bluehairs and deer than my own ability to control a bike at triple digits.

Heck, to me it's a lot more dangerous for a cop to whip a U-ee in traffic in order to pursue a speeder than the act of speeding itself.

And, how can the Germans have the innate ability to control their vehicles at high speeds, but we Americans are deemed too stupid and inept to do so? Doesn't add up.

because the Germans take driving seriously... statistically speaking.

All taken from studies btw,

Germans are less likely to be drinking coffee while on the autobahn,

less likely to be jibberjabbering on a fu.cking cellphone

more likely to OBEY THE RULES. passing on the left, slower vehicles on the right...etc.

when we're ready to follow the law like they do in their socialist-democracy, we'll be ready for the autobahn. ever see how german police clean up drunk & disorderlies? (OUCH!) libertarians in the U.S. would fall over and crump from triple coronary vascular disease.

but until then...

no autobahn for us.

"And, how can the Germans have the innate ability to control their vehicles at high speeds, but we Americans are deemed too stupid and inept to do so"

That's because we are!! How many of us stick to the right on a freeway? How many times do we get stuck behind someone doing 50mph in the left lane while they're drinking cofee & talking on the phone? How much training do we require to get a license?

Generalizing broadly, we get treated like idiots because we act like idiots. The lack of any kind of driving standards & the need to cater to the lowest common denominator, coupled with our fervent belief that the "right" to drive is ours, despite whatever dangers we may pose to others, is the problem.

As for this dude caught speeding, he deserves to do time. Suspending someone's license does little to stop them from driving & fines often go unpaid. Iv'e done stupid $hit like this when I was younger, and if I was caught I wouldn't expect any less

I think this dude is a waste of taxpayer money, period. However, IMHO, the differnce in kinetic energies should have no bearing on his sentence. What differnce does it make if I was to beat the crap out of someone with a 50lb sledge or an umbrella? Its all assault & battery ain't it, providing the intent & situation were the same.

I want no part of a society that throws people in jail for exceeding the speed limit. You hurt someone or their property while speeding? Let you spend time *attempting* to avoid rear-entry. But not before.
