This slimy piece of crap was elected multiple times. I guess the people of South Dakota don't take much interest in their local politics if they support a man like this. If I were a South Dakotan (?) I would stage a protest outside this dirtbag's house.

Of course this lowlife says he feels terrible about what happened, but he doesn't have the sack to own up to what he has done. I hope he dies of a heart attack really soon, and by the looks of him that should only be days away.

I've been looking at several articles about this terrible situation, and I have found something curious. Nearly every article has a picture of that sneering fat pig Janklow, but none have a picture of his victim. If the man's family doesn't want his picture in the papers that is understandable, but I think it would do their case a lot of good if everyone could put a face to the reckless actions of this killer.

Fire fighters, police, etc, stop or slow down when they come to an intersection with their emergency lights and sirens on. What makes this piece of sh!t excuse for a human being special enough to ignore that basic principle? He has a long rap sheet as a traffic menace, he has a history as an individual who expects special treatment to be able to brake the rules, he has been cited many times for braking the law. If it was any of us regular MOFOS doing anything like that, our goose would be cooked.

Whether the person he killed was riding a motorcycle, driving a car or riding a donkey, should make no difference in the fact that this individual needs to spend many years in jail for killing a human being, regardless of his political influence and connections.

Let the bastard rot in jail!!!!

You'll know the coverup was on for sure when they cook up an emergency so Janklow has an excuse to have been using his lights.

In another note, what a load of shyt about him needing emergency lights to respond to emergencies. I'd be willing to bet the LAST thing local authorities would want is some blowhard know-it-all storming up to the scene, lights blaring, trying to take over the situation, knowing nothing about what is going on, with no training. Of course, I could be wrong, I'm not a cop, firefighter, paramedic, or first responder.

Comments from the above professionals?

Default Larry Long

No, he's not a porn star, he's the attorney general. It should say Larry Long (R), not Larry Long.

Looks like he was elected in 2002, so there are no obvious connections to Janklow, but SD is a pretty small state. Any SD political junkies out there with info on ties between Long & Janklow?

From a South Dakota State University voter guide, submitted by Mr. Long before his election:

"The Attorney General has three jobs every day. First, he fights crime to keep South Dakota safe. Second, he is the stateÂ’s lawyer. Third, he is your lawyer on consumer issues.

Pay attention to #1, Mr. Long.

Default Read this article..

This is the most interesting article I've read yet. The first half is the Codington County State's Attorney Vince Foley (unknown) talking about how complicated the case is. It seems that the combination of speed AND running the stop sign means there are few prior cases to judge from.

Then, Minnehaha County State's Attorney Dave Nelson says it's "difficult" to successfully charge someone with 2nd degree manslaughter.

Just when you're sure he's going to get off, the Argus leader does some research showing that everything these two said is a bunch of shyt.

Another interesting bit is the SD definition of 2nd degree manslaughter: "A person is reckless with respect to circumstances when he consciously or unjustifiably disregards a substantial risk that such circumstances may exist."

Unjustifiably. I'd like to see Janklow's lawyer JUSTIFY him running the stop sign, when there was a stop ahead sign, in broad daylight, on a road Janklow had driven hundreds of times.

The article:

In Texas, a first responder can not break the traffic laws unless it can be done safely. If this were me running hot somewhere and I had this wreck, I would be prepared to lose the farm and head to the pokey. The investigation does take time. Investigators have to calculate speed measurements, crush factor calculations, tests for the emergency lights, and they have to put their ducks in a row to press charges. I do not know if his car was equipped with the new air bag crash data programs (like the black box on airplanes) but that would hang him for sure. Hopefully the people in charge will do the right thing. If the guy walks, it is probably due to a weak DA, not local law enforcement who probably think this guy blows chunks too. This guy sounds like an idiot weasel to me.

You're absoultely right. I've never seen cops ,ambulances, or fire trucks fly thru intersections w/out looking. if not for their own safety then for others.
