A couple of years ago I found a website for a company that was refurbishing old Norton Commandos. They were apparently doing a top-notch job; no Lucas (Prince of Darkness) electrics, no Amal carbs, all of the weak and troublesome engine parts (like the magic disappearing valve retainers) replaced with newly machined parts, improved clutches, etc.

They were pricey but, having ridden a Norton Commando I can attest to the excellent handling and incredible engine. I don't know if they are still in business because I couldn't find the website just now.

Still, there could be a nich niche market for someone willing to go for it. I doubt the Japanese will try with the recent sales failure of the W650.

That one made Vetter's Triumph Hurricane look good.

Gabe,

I guess you've done a start-up motorcycle manufacturing company so this give you license to lambast those who have since you speak from experience? At least Excelsior-Henderson made a go of it even it didn't work. When was the last time you did the same?

I'm pretty sure they're still in business. I believe they're based out of Oregon.

Pretty sure you are referring to Kenny Dreer. His company, Norton America is based in Gladstone, Oregon (a Portland suburb) and has now acquired the rights to the Norton name for most of the industrial world.

Check out their web site HERE

I haven't seen anything on the expected price of the all new bike, and there is no indication on their web site, but I assume it won't me cheap! Damn, it is beautiful, though. If I could afford it, I would have my name on the waiting list.

you left off the part where the '90's E-H ***** poorly managed themselves out of buisness ripping off many thousands of investors and the State of Minnesota. Gee, that's not funny at all, but Gabe is.

F451, if you don't understand the concept of satire, don't comment on it. In other words, loosen up dude. At least Gabe hasn't ripped anyone off....

Gabe, sign me up, you do take Confederate Money don't you.....

shoot, BMW even had enough sense to dump Rover (on Ford no less) and keep the Morris name!
