>>I'd just as soon not have anyone over 40, or male think about what kind or color drawers I'm wearing<<

What ya got against women over 40?

Of course, if you are in your 50s like I am, there sure as hell ain't many women UNDER 40 who will have any interest at all in your drawers!

Yeah, that was exactly my experience with my Park City Condo. In this case, the developer still controlled the board of directors (unsold units got 3 votes, to one vote for every sold unit) and she wanted to convey a really upscale image so started adding all sorts of rules that were not there when we bought. For example, right after one on my neighbors put in a nice hottub, she passed a new rule banning them and tried to get him to remove it. When he threatened to go to court, she passed a rule banning dogs (he and I were the only ones having dogs at that time). She added a rule banning pickup campers unless they were garaged (garage roofs were too low to permit anything higher than the cab of a full sized 4X4 so this effectively banned them outright) because she said it made us look like "trailer trash."

I stonewalled, but my neighbor moved out and leased his place to a whole bunch of teenaged snowboarders who partied all night, parked junker cars all over the parking lot and filled the dumpster with empty beer bottles.

Once enough units sold so that the developer no longer controlled the board, we organized our own slate of candidates and took control and were able to keep most of the crap out of the rules.

I think he is refering to the middle-class professionals (usually with dweeby jobs) who ride Harleys and try to pretend to be hardass bikers.

Members of the Party that are giving us John Ashcroft, a non-secular government, and war rhetoric that's pissing off the rest of the world should keep quiet about everything.'

This post is scored -2-.

Who scores these posts, the editors? Isn't the occasionaly political diatribe sufficient to show the staff's political views? Must like-minded readers be commended as well?

Make up your mind, rooster. Am I a liberal or a socialist? They are not one and the same anymore than a 'right-handed southpaw' would be.

If you don't know the distinction between liberals and socialists, you probably shouldn't be going on a public forum to criticize other folk's politics. It could end up getting a wee bit embarrassing for you. Ignore my advice at your own peril!

I have three words I'd like to express to you regarding your whine: neener, neener, and neener.

Try pushing it backwards with one hand on the clipon and your other hand flat on the fairing. You can even leave the kickstand down in case you start to lose it you can just set it down.

When I worked in a dealership we pushed em backwards all the time. It's a little awkward at first but once you get the hang of it it's easy.

Heck you can even spin em around right on the kickstand. (Don't try this with a Harley!)

Where can you legally to draw the line, or where should you be able to do so, in restricting who can live in, or what activities are permitted in, a community?

Can/should a community be permitted to exclude residents or guests of specified racial, ethnic or religious backgrounds? Can a community exclude residents based on education or occupation? Marital status? Sexual orientation?

If I want to form a commune for, say, pagan vegatarians, and we buy property in rural Montana, get required zoning approval and building permits (maybe not too tough in rural Montana), I will probably not have any problem permitting only those who share those views to live there. Same thing if I am a white supremist, bigamist or Branch Davidian.

However, if I am a property developer who wants to develop a new subdivision in Morgan County Utah (where more than 95% of the population is Mormon -- sorry, LDS), I cannot legally have deed covenants that stipulate that residents must be Ward members, or that prohibit possession of alcohol, tobacco or coffee, even though a large majority of residents would support such standards. I probably would not be allowed to set rules prohibiting mowing lawns, washing cars etc on Sunday, even though most residents would find those activities offensive and would want to restrict them.

I am neither an attorney nor a real estate developer, so I am not sure just what are the legal limits on what may be restricted in covenants, but I do know that there are substantial limitations.

Homeowners associations are de facto governments, and it is the obligation of freedom-loving men and women to fight government tyranny wherever we find it!

Other readers score this -- for example, I just set your post's score to 0-Idiotic Troll -- not because I think that is the case, but just to demonstrate the point. Another reader can rate it as humorous, insightful or whatever. I think the most recent one is what shows as the description, and possible the score is some accumulation of all the ratings -- not sure on that. Anyway, I don't think the editors had anything to do with this -- besides, I understand that JB (the most likely perpetrator) is off to Spain.
