Mine had the infamous "suiside-stand" that snaps up as soon as you lift it off the stand, but otherwise, your suggestion is a good one. Oh yeah, in my case, this was a gravel parking lot.

This is somewhat off from the thread, but is it just me, or have police departments given up on enforcement of noise limits?

As a teenager living in a small town in the 60s, I got many warnings, and several citations, for loud pipes on my old Studebaker pickup. Cops had a portable sound meter they would set up where they wanted, and would pull you over if you were too loud, or if they just noticed that you were too loud, they would make you go down to the station where they would check it.

It has been years since I have seen or heard of anyone actually getting a ticket for too much noise. I have gotten several speeding tickets where I should have gotten, and fully extected to get, a noise violation citation as well, but the officer never said a word about it.

How about anywhere else? Are noise ordinances ever actually enforced?

A couple of Chicago cops yelled at a guy in a Suburban "Turn down your F#*&ing stereo" about 4 years ago. When the gentleman driving decided to flip the cops the bird and tell them to go f themselves, they decided to give him several tickets (the first of which was for noise, which I believe fell under a public nuisance law) and discover a gun and some drugs in his car.

No underage porn though...apparantly R. Kelly was too busy being an idiot with the cops first. All because he wouldn't turn down the music. Dumbass.

Default Jet boats rock

My brother has a custom 19' with a 454, dry stacks and a Berkeley (sp?) jet drive. thing makes a hellacious noice, and is blazing fast. 60 on that thing is as scary as 150 on a bike, with all that water thumping up once you're on plane.

We had a used ST2 in our dealership which went down regularly every time a customer would sit on it and then get off. We finally started putting it on the center stand with a big DO NOT SIT sign on it. Thankfully, my ST4 is a 2000 model which ditched the sui-side stand.

I've spent many hours in boats just like that. Just not on Canyon lake!

Your liberal friend is totally wrong. She demonstrates the usual insufferable arrogance of the far left.

America was noted by Europeans many decades ago as a place where charity was very active in caring for the poor. In fact there was a term used called "American Poor". "American Poor" meant that, while not everybody had luxuries, still almost every kid got an education and had enough to eat. This was long before Roosevelt and any organized govt program.

When people are proserous they are usually charitable. Claims that govt is necessary to force people to be compassionate is a vicious liberal slander.
