Wowee! The $150,000 car can edge out the $11,000 stock bike. Barely.

Duh, I think it's called "streamlining" or "low frontal area" a bike needs big HP to push it through the air after about 120 mph. The Vette has the advantage of inertia too...and that big stonking vee eight.

Inflation strikes! It used to only take $120K to build a car that could do a quicker 1/4 mile than a literbike.

I take that back. In the 90's Car and Driver did a comparo where a Dodge Viper did 2.5 sec faster laps at Willow springs than a YZF1000 provided by Cycle World. (Another reason to scrag that crappy mag). They declared the Viper the "winner" despite the fact that the Viper had totally eaten up its own brakes and blew the engine after 3 laps. I'll stick with those "loser" motorcycles.

And that's the beauty of modern bikes. They humiliate 99% of cars. They do it cheaper. And they do it year in year out reliably while performance cars chew themselves to pieces. And even though a competently piloted car does have the advantage in turns the operative word is "competently". How often do you see that. The usual owner of a performance car is a dyckless drone with more money than brains. If you thought that middle-aged HD buyers were posers just check out those eunuchs in their Thunderbirds and Beemers.

Let's face it. Cages suck.

5th Gear ran a Lambo performance model against a Ducati 1098 on a British circuit. Two laps after a rolling start and the Ducati beat it by 3 seconds.
Biggest disadvantaged the bike had were the twisty parts where the Lambo could it in and brake much later.

If I had to spend massive bucks building a Corvette just to beat a stock R1 I sure wouldn't advertise

What would be more impressive is watching one of those Acrua/turbo powered Civics NOPI cars run that R1 in a quarter mile at about a buck thirty. Those guys are the "new" breed hot-rodders. Cheap cars. Expensive motors. Lots of fun.

Even more fun would be watching those cars trying to race and R1 after both have 50,000 miles in their powertrains.... Oh wait. That Acura engine is in the junkyard.
