Ive found this new product out there and it lets you keep your eyes on the road instead of constantly checking your radar. when you have a radar pointed at you a light flashes in your helmet. Heres the site. Legal Speeding v2 Anyways my question is that if i get this, is it ok to put the detector in my "trunk" because i dont want to be mounting anything on my new bike.

AFAIK a radar detector has to be mounted in the clear so it can detect the radar or laser beams.

That's why I've always got on my tinfoil hat! Damn aliens have been trying to get my formula for triple X hootch made from dust bunnies & spiders. Something my house has an excess of, so I figured why not! (Tastes like PBR without the fiz).

Since most police departments are switching to laser speed guns; radar detectors are likely to be completely worthless pretty soon.

I beg to differ. I work with LEOs and I'm fairly confident to say that radar will rule for a long while. To start with, laser guns are expensive, and no municipality is going to toss aside perfectly good radar guns for laser, especially with budget deficit pretty much plaguing most municipalities. Also, you can't use laser in the rain, fog, mist, or haze. You also can't use laser and tag someone over roughly 500 yards, where as with radar you can use it up to 1/4 of a mile.

I've been using a radar detector on my bike for about 3 years now and I feel naked if I ride without one now. I started with a Cobra, worked okay, upgraded to a V1, and now I'm using the TPX. All are great detectors, but I really do like the TPX.

Now, the thing that scares me is the camera radar traps. They tag you real close and mail you your ticket. Can you say big brother?
