Tiger 1050 Sport only available in Europe

According to my guy at the Newport Beach Triumph/Ducati dealership the Tiger 1050 Sport will only be available in Europe for the time being. I am very disappointed to say the least. I was hoping this would be my next bike. Fuc(kers.

Right there with ya. I want the Ducati MST grantorismo but not the $23k and change. So it was down to the KTM SMT and the new Tiger, now just the SMT...

Can't blame them. They gotta bring in what they think will sell.

Will there be any Tiger 1050 at all in the US? IIRC, the Sport has the single-sided swingarm, new bodywork, and a retuned engine as it's primary differences. And maybe a 17" front instead of 19"?

UK vs. US

If you compare the UK and US websites they do not show the 1050 at all on the US site. I also like the Multistrada but 12er is right 20 large is more than I want to invest. At current exchange rate that puts the sport at just under 15 grand.

Have you looked at the HyperStrada? I did, and the specs and photos make it look pretty appealing. Some are positioning it as the "800 cc MultiStrada.". Comes ready for touring with bags, screen, decent seat. If not for the CB, I'm pretty sure it would have been my next bike. $13k, 120hp, ABS, ride modes...and it comes in red!

Exponential. 10 is 15, 15 is 20, 20 is 25. Dollars that is.

Spec wise the Tiger Sport even without shaft drive like the Multistrada hits my sweet spot. I like the new GS but have always felt it a bit to tall. The fact is that other than an occasional fire road I never leave the asphalt. I really want two bikes. A real tourer like an RT and a nimble canyon carver with good power. For all intents and purposes I could just buy a new R1200, equip it with all the available options including ABS, ESA, ASC, luggage etc. and have a great bike that fits the bill with shaft drive that would be a great all rounder. Right now it's down to a new R1200 or a Multistrada. 20 large plus looks like the price point if I want new. The new boxer engine should be on the next gen RT and R. It may be possible to get a deal on a 2013R bike later on. I may go Galt this year. If so I will be buying outside of California. I'm not sure I can hold out. I want a new bike. I really liked the Idea of having a Tiger Sport in my garage. We shall see.

The 1200 Explorer is a pretty cool looking bike, I wouldn't count those out if I were in the market.

The 800XC is no slouch, either. It feels like a bicycle with a LOT of motor!
