Default A Rare Miss for Kawasaki

I realize that the "ADV" market is hot, but really Kawasaki, is stuffing an I-4 Z-1000 engine into a Versys dress the best you can come up with?

When I first heard about the "Versys 1000," I was pretty interested...but Sweet Jesus, that thing is a mess. We all know that ADV bikes spend the vast majority of their time on the road, but you want to at least pretend you can take it off pavement.

I really like Kawasaki, but this bike is a real disappointment.

I does look sort of cobbled together. But the vast majority (like 99 percent) of all ATs spend ALL of their time on the road is more like it. So if Kwacker can bring in a price under 10K like the article suggests they'll probably sell a bunch.

How funny if Kaw can bring in a 1000cc AT at a price below Honduh's 680cc Dullsville.

Maybe Kawi could finagle one of Ducati's designers.

If you take it in the context of just a street bike then it looks like a pretty good deal. Bags and trunk, upright riding position and a strong motor....

As an "Adventure" bike it's even less realistic than a 500 lb BMW or one of them oil leaky Triumphs...

But the Ninja 1000 is $9k. One guy posted he got one out the door for $8k. But, you can't pretend to be Nick Swardlow (or Ewan MacGregor, of the Clan MacGregor) on a Ninja...

I love Kawi's. But that thing is ugly. Uglier than the old Multistrada. And that's saying something.

I HOPE that is not the final iteration, if this rumor is really true. Those pictures look so Photoshopped, it's not even funny. If that is the bike they bring out, then I feel sorry for that designer. Better polish up the ol' resume!

I dunno. How then do you explain BMW's existence?
