I like the bike. What doesn't make sense to me is raising the seat higher.

That's the only problem with the GS also, I understand the longer suspension travel and pseudo off road capabilities but I'm not short and I need a step ladder to get on and off the thing. There's times when not getting a foot down will bite you in the butt, off road and on..

The 650 guys are nearly fanatical about their bikes. What's really fun is when you goad them about not coughing up the extra $2k for the 1000. "It does everything I need it to do." "The Vee is too heavy!" (it's 40 lbs more). "I get 80 MPG!" Blah blah blah. When I bought my Vee, I knew if I got the 650 I'd always be wondering "should I have gotten the 1000?" I think they are too.

Ahh yes, Pe-niod measuring at it's finest....I'd get the DL 1000 myself, in fact I mentioned my escapades at the Suzuki dealership a few years back when I tried to do just that

Honestly, the only thing i can figure is it's a first road bike or a re-entry bike because for $2k more for the liter bike there doesn't seem to be much incentive to buy the 650.
