How about a showdown comparo for these three bikes?
2009 Ducati Monster 696 2008 Triumph Street Triple 2008 Suzuki SV650n Value versus Style... How do they compare? Do you get the performance for the money??? Which bike do you would you want to ride most? |

While I'm a fan of Suzuki's 90 degree VTwin, I suspect the Duc and Triumph would eat the SV's lunch. Could be wrong, it would be fun to find out.

I'm sure they would, but that isn't the SV's role, from what I hear. It's a well-balanced, controllable, easy-to-ride but sporty standard. It doesn't aspire to the aggression that the other two have.

I love my SV, but it's no match for either other bike in any comparison other than "value". Even there, the duc and trumpet may be more expensive, but you get a lot for that money in better components, design, and refinement. Style is, of course, subjective, but personally I think all three bikes are great looking. It might be fun to take the same money spent on the higher end bikes, buy a new SV and upgrade away and see what you come up with.

Ejis has it, I've often thought comparing an 8K stock bike to a 20K stock bike is apples and oranges. If you got to comparable prices I imagine you'd get more with the bike that started cheaper. The price difference isn't that large in this comparison, but has been in others.
