A Yamaha offer for Dovizioso

The arrival of Casey Stoner at Honda, and the simultaneous divorce between Valentino Rossi and Yamaha, might actually have created a favorable situation for Andrea Dovizioso.* The Italian would become the third man at HRC in 2011, without any assurances of staying with the factory team unless another sponsor comes on board, which has been widely discussed but not confirmed.
The Honda rider lineup, with the arrival of the Australian, is starting to get very crowded considering that they also have a contract in place with Marco Simoncelli.
This is the reason why Dovi was pleased to receive an offer from Hervé Poncharal to fill the seat left open by Ben Spies, as the American looks likely to partner Jorge Lorenzo next year on the factory team.
At this point the rider from Forli has to decide if it is better to compete for attention with Stoner, Pedrosa and Simoncelli, three capable and motivated riders, or move on in search of greener pastures with Yamaha.* The competition within the team from Iwata would be less intense with Rossi gone; it leaves only the Spanish superstar, while Spies, who's contract runs to the end of 2011, has looked very good but hasn't set the world on fire either. Ain't happening. Dovi is going to get a Factory bike but be booted to a private team. Red Bull doesn't want to play in that money pit. Repsol already said they aren't paying, either. Dovi is the one that will come out a loser in this deal, but with a factory bike.

I haven't read about the musical chairs as of late. Frankly I haven't seen to much on it except rumors. As far as I know, without reading I know Honda will never field a three rider team in this current economic climate. If I where Honda I'd dump Pedrosa and keep Divo. Rumors are also stirring about Edwards going to SBK for next year. And of course the never ending Rossi to Ducati rumor. Which at this point I believe will happen. So how does Divo get a factory bike on a satellite team? That will be a first. Maybe it will be a blessing in disguse.

Lor/Spi Yamaha
Ros/Hay Ducati
Sto/Ped Honda

Good prediction. I think Dovi should take the Private Honda bike over the M1. I believe that Capirossi should fill the M1 Tech 3 seat that Edwards will leave. Ducati offered Edwards the seat once in WSBK. Why not boot Haga and give him a shot. Haga should take Xaus' seat on the BMW next season.
