I happened to see the Moto2 race. Wow! 5 guys battling hammer and tongs for 2d place! Collisions, close calls, etc. Lots of real racing.

The guy in first must have got the one "good" engine in the bunch.

What a nasty high side, I had to work all weekend but watched the race last night when I got home.

I believe the run and hide method isnt that prevelant in motorcycle roadracing. Do you ever catch the 125's or the new Moto2 class no one ever runs away with any of those races ever, if they do it's rare. As for the Motogp class I would atribute that a victory of more than 5 sec would most likely be caused by several factors my guess would be (excluding crashes).

The Bike
The Team
The Rider

Things like how fast can the rider set the bike up so he can focus more on qualifying and the race pace instead of problems. Having one tire manufacture certianly eliminates having to decide on multiple tires. Mick Doohan era was an example of The rider and bike combination.

Moto2 is more exciting to watch then the premier class, for sure.

Wow great race finally caught up with Speed Channels ignorant schedualing. Loved the replay with the rider(?) that just about past Tony Elias around the outside. Also with two laps to go Tomizawa made a great move and took off out of the five man group for 2ndplace until he just about highsided and went from 2nd to 6th in one corner. Awsome race!!!

I think the runaway leader stays out in front because he has clean lines and he is not worried about the guy on his six trying to pass in the corners.

Always have to remember aswell that if the riders behind start dicing it up and retaking eachother back and fourth that just gives the runaway more of a lead.

It's the same when two riders help eachother to catch the runaway. Using eachothers draft to propel eachother until they catch the leader. By then it's unspoken but it's every man for himself.

Racing close is a mind game. Sometimes you let that guy pass you- if it's early enough in the race- just to see where they are weak. Where you might be stronger. This obviously is when neither can shake one another.
