HD TeeVee had a "Twist the Throttle" episode on Yamaha. Very cool company overall; they have a corporate philosphy that beauty and engineering excellence can combine to create worthy products.

They also have the Nipponese equivalent of Willie F'in Davis. I forget his name, but he's an old long-haired Hippy Nippy who has designed EVERY Yamaha motorcycle from Day 1. He was showing his design sketches; they started with a woman on all fours and turned it into the R-1. Draw your own conclusions.

Did you know that the design of the R-1 adds FIFTY horsepower with ram-air efficiency at speed? That's a heap o' horsepower.
