Great story. I'v heard quite a few similar stories from my old service manager when he raced against the likes of guys like roberts, romero, nixon etc...

Pre-Race Prep:
Steak and scotch dinner. Camel cigaretts. Maid for dessert. Race day: Maid for breakfast. Coffee. Camel cigarettes. "Hair of the dog" shot of scotch. Post-race: Repeat Pre-Race regimen.
