Default Speedy recovery, Hoppy!

Sad news, indeed. I was glad he found a ride.

I hate to sound cold, but Hopper isn't anything but a top 5 guy at best. I know he's down and it's not right to kick a guy when he's down. I'm just saying that if you look at career results he's average. I believe he would do well back in the AMA. Mladin, T Hayden, Yates, Bostrom and Young are all better than him so I don't know if he'd be better off. Sorry he's down. Sucks to start a new job and crash like that.

Cool Wow?

Thats a pretty strong statment. Not that I dont disagree, but I think he needs time to show his true grit. And be judged as such. Do you think he made the move to Gps too quick?

Very insightful, Mokester. New bike, new team, new environment. It'd be difficult for anyone to be instantly successful under those circumstances. This injury won't do anything to speed up the learning curve, though.

Not only his he in a new environment, new team. Hopper is basiclly going from a one off factory machine with full factory support to a production bike and a completely different budget. After almost 10yrs with that level of a team, its a big change. Heck 2001 was the last time he even rode a superbike?

And thats not even to mention hes the second rider in a two rider team. Leon Haslam has however been able to podium the bike so its possible and I hope Hopper comes to terms with his new ride.

I think the guy is a great role model for up & comers, but his GP rides were underfunded messes that didn't help his learning curve. I believe he's become a 5th place rider no matter the series. If he'd stayed in the AMA or even gone to WSBK would he be a better racer- No- I don't think that would have helped. I believe that he was the product of a good marketing machine when he was a kid. Once into the big leagues he became average not spectacular.

I wonder how many people would feel disappointed to only be good enough to pull average 5th places at that level of racing? LOL! Yep, Nicky is sure a doofus. I'd be ashamed to be that bad of a racer. (eyes rolling)

Cool I disagree,

I think if he wasn't shipped out so quickly under the Managment and tutalige of John Ulrich, stayed in the AMA longer and won alot more championships he would have yeilded higher results throughout his career.
