My Uncle gave me my first motorcycle ride on one of those Mustangs when I was about 4 years old. I was hooked then. I can remember my mother all freaked and upset. Ha! Little did she know.....

Thumbs up Great find!

Great post, Sachi! Those were some awesome pictures! I didn't know that Indian made so many singles and parallel twins. I don't think I saw a single v-twin in those photos. I guess those guys and gals weren't "real" bikers. ;o)

Did you see the sand all over the road in the turn? Scaaaary.

One of my co-workers is a younger guy from Jamacia. He was looking at the photos over my shoulder and we got to talking about what it must have been like to have lived in So Cal in the years immediately following WWII. How we had just basically saved the world from Facism and arrived as the dominant power in the world. The sense of optimism and potential must have been pretty amazing. Not to mention some very cool bikes...and not being hassled by The Man.

Cool stuff Sachi, thanks.

Nice! That let all the air out of the balloon of nostalgia...

To be more accurate, she may be a great- or great-great-granny. Say, 1950, and she's what, 20? We're talking blue (or that weird pinkish-purple) hair, wrinkled wrinkles and a Buick, buddy!

She's driving a white Camry and pushing a cart into my ankles every weekend at the neighborhood grocery store. They all come here to die.
