So Mike, what do you think of the automatic? Assuming you are not a 'motorcycle journalist.'

Seems like everything I've heard about the bike is from a 'pro'. What do you think of it? Of course, you bought it, so you must favor it, but how about an honest appraisal?

And, as you've already noticed, Ken bears constant scrutiny. Especially when he is fully tanked with MSCuddy's Original Formula EggNogg.

Just for your info, he is making reference to another thread that discusses punching out a new VTX1800's pipes.

Welcome to the site!

pushrod,

The 'A' is the ABS reference, the AE is the automatic. I haven't ridden the automatic, if I wanted a scooter I'd buy a Vespa!

Thanks for clearing up the VTX thing, I've been browsing the various threads and haven't come across that one but I like the atmosphere here!

I did this for two reasons: 1) Saved 18lbs of weight and 2) The stock FJR sounds like a sewing machine.

Both problems solved. The new exhaust is a 4-2-1 so I dropped one can, bulky collectors and picked up a nice low growl (not howl) throughout the RPM range.

With approximately 130 rear wheel horsepower, she runs just fine and I'm sure the new exhaust / PCIII w/ custom map added a pony or two, but that wasn't my motivation.
