Actually I think that electric bikes could a the coolest things around, if science/engineering could solve the energy storage problems. A motor that gets 100% torque at zero rpm has to be cool. The only problem is that energy storage techniques in use and even in the pipeline are still 17th century concepts, even if they are done with different chemicals. As long as we are stuck with chemical energy storage I believe the electric vehicle will be a dead end.
No one has yet addressed the problems inherent in having several million difficult-to-recycle extremely poisonous energy cells driving around. I have a feeling that the enviroMENTALists will demand the banning of the electric vehicle the day after we bankrupt ourselves by ridding ourselves of the gasoline powered vehicle. Just an idea, since so far they have never been satisfied with any type of conveyance.

The cool thing about the Zero is that its battery seems to be quite advanced. The guy who invented it used to work at NASA.

I can just see the KTM electric, hooked up to the honda portable generator at the local off road park.
Duke, is the battery filled with Tang? Ok, that was bad, I'll stop... |
