These timeline 'histories' are interesting but they seem a tad incomplete. There's no mention of Dr Seruzawa whamming into a chain link fence on his '67 250 Scrambler at Indian Dunes.

Most likely the fence lost. It wasn't the bike eating fence on the International course, right after the start, was it (big right hander)?

Well right after that big right hander was a short downshill straight, with three little unobtrusive whoops on it, that played hell with stock Yamaha suspension.
One Saturday the Don Jones Yamaha team showed up, and I was on my AT1MX that I just put a CT1 top end on (175cc) and a 30mm Mikuni, & Webco head. DeWayne Jones was in front of me, and on that short downhill that lead into the bermed right-hander at the end, and I had him in my sights. So I screwed it on for all it was worth, and tank slapped right past him, and over the berm and into the mud hole on the other side. He was impressed. |
pffft that's nothing...

I got lapped by both Jim and Ron Pomeroy in the same Moto, I think dam* near everyone else did too but still.... Ron used to race all over the PNW in the open A class and one sunday after the Spanish GP win Jim was home for a break. He showed up with his little bro for a regular series race at Straddleline and rode a stock Pursang for no points just grins. Ronny was pretty quick too and him, Buck Murphy and Randy McAllistar used to pretty well own the series anyway with the rest of us trying to keep up. That race I think Jimmy was just dogging it but he still lapped most of the field after about 10 minutes, the NMA used to run 45 minute motos so every so often he'd go flying past like a sunday drive while I was spankin' my Yamaha for all it was worth in mid field, I think I finished 9th or 10th..not bad I guess.... At that time Jimmy was next to God hissef' so just being on the same track was an honor |

I finally did it! I bought my first Ducati today! It's a Monster 1000 in black with a gray trellis frame. Very nice! I also snagged a Benelli, an Aprillia, a BMW, a Triumph, and TWO MV Agustas. Here's a snap of my Official Motorcycle.com Workstation and Garage:
