“But if all riders wore the safest helmets available, 50 lives could be saved each year. That is why we started the innovative SHARP scheme and are delighted to publish the first results.”

If they want to test helmets, that's fine. It'll help in deciding to buy one. But there is no valid way to make such a claim. Why do bureaucrats insist on false predictions? I mean, when was the last time one of them was right? I can't think of one.

Of the 42% of the people who responded to our study, 73% of the people interviewed thought 81% of the statistics gained from 59% of Government studies were false at least 48% of the time, with the other 27% unsure........

It's called "The Big Lie" theory. If they keep repeating the same nonsense over and over, SOMEBODY will believe it.

Criminy!

That's what, four rating systems now? Snell, DOT, EC and now Sharp.

To add to the mix, I'd imagine the manufacturers make hats differently for the different markets. So how is the average dood gonna compare the apples and oranges?

Save 50 lives per year? Even if they were precisely-accurate with that prediction, that comes to less than 2% of the total killed. Less than the margin of error, and therefore not even valid statistically..............

Self-preservation and perpetuation. When there's no new problem that only the bureaucrats can manage, people start to question their purpose.
